Stunning aerial tour - The Grand Canyon Skywalk!!
Only two and half hr. drive from Las Vegas "The Grand Canyon Skywalk" is the glass bridge suspended 4,000 feet (1 219 meters) above the canyon. The horseshoe shaped bridge protrudes 65 (20 meters) feet from the edge of the canyon.
Salary - How Much Do You Expect?
Many job seekers already know that it is not wise to ask for the salary in a job interview. But what if it is the potential employer who initiates to talk about it? What would you fill in for “expected salary” in the application form given to you in a job interview? Should we honestly tell the company how much we want?
Salary is no doubt part of the job offer. At the end of the day, you have to address it if you are successfully hired. So, think about it before you attend the job interview and be well prepared so that you can negotiate at any time.
Preparation 1
Study the strengths of yourself and show how you can add value to the business of the company if you are hired. This is to enhance your bargaining power to ask for a higher pay.
Preparation 2
Find out and study the salary packages offered by other companies of similar ranking because companies usually benchmark against each other. You may ask for a better pay if the company is comparing itself with other large corporations.
Preparation 3
Salary does not mean “money” only. It includes non-cash rewards such as medical benefits, bonuses, retirement plans, stock options, overtime compensation, etc. These can add at least 25% to your salary. Calculate in details beforehand and you will know how much you should negotiate.
Preparation 4
Find out what your bottom line is. Remember that your aim is not to negotiate but to get the job. To set a bottom line is to let you know when to stop negotiating. If you do not know how much you want, you will lose the direction in negotiation.
Preparation 5
Be positive and prepared for the “worst”! If by the end of the job interview, you find that the salary package proposed by the potential employer does not meet your expectation, you have only two choices. If you have confidence to find a better offer somewhere, proceed. But if you find that this position seems to suit you, you should consider the company culture, location of work, and the job nature to see if it is worth taking up this job regardless of a not-so-satisfactory salary. Be optimistic that you may get salary increase afterwards!

How to Stay Afloat in a New Work Place
THE big change has happened. And you are happy that you made the decision to switch to a more interesting, challenging and senior position in a new company. That’s the simpler part. A few days into it, and what looked glamorous and exciting from the outside, is suddenly starting to appear a wee bit trickier than before. You’re the rank outsider nobody seems to want around, and you don’t have time for this nonsense. After all, there’s work to be done, and you need to prove that you’re every bit worth the fat package your new employer paid to acquire you.
Welcome to reality. It’s a whole new game that you need to learn and adapt. Time is certainly not on your side, so it’s critical to get your act together from Day One. Here are a few points that can help you manage the transition into a new company.
Focus on relationships from Day One
No matter how long you may have worked in organizations, the truth is that managing people and interpersonal relationships remains the most difficult part of any leadership role. Each instance can be different from the other and no amount of theoretical frameworks and even experience can prepare you for some situations. Building relationships is your single most important task. Visit people outside your team and spend time listening to how they work, and what difficulties they encounter in dealing with your team or department. Offer to help with solutions, if any.
Clarify, clarify, and clarify
Nothing is more dangerous than ambiguity. Before you start, clarify up front what your role definition would be. What the expectations of the organization are from you, the timelines for those deliverables and what resources would be made available to you to help achieve them.
Easier said than done? Most likely, this wouldn’t be handed to you on a platter, so demand clarity. It’s also in your own best interests to have measurement parameters in place. As you begin benchmarking your team’s and your own performance against these parameters, work will start to become more challenging and enjoyable.
Don’t be in a hurry to make a big impression
When you are in an alien environment, the easiest way to get everyone to notice you is to make a big splash with a new project, propose to change processes that you think are old and redundant or redesign structures that come in the way of efficiency. Don’t even think about it, because it’s sure to ruffle a lot of feathers and, of course, get you nowhere. Be realistic about the scope of your new role. Give yourself some time to learn the processes and systems and how people work. Patience can be your best virtue here. Allow yourself a few small victories, though. That will boost your own morale and that of your team, who would be looking up to you.
Understand the Power Networks and Who Matters
Formal organisational positions hardly indicate who’s really in charge. It’s often a core group that gets things done around the place. So carefully observe and figure out the powers that pull the strings and influence key decisions. These could take the form of unofficial ‘shadow boards’ that could consist of members of the formal board of directors, influential shareholders or even outside parties. Understanding this can determine how much and how fast you can execute on your plan, and make all the difference to your success as a senior executive.
Exude Positivity
And finally, take a positive approach to your work. Be clear that you have come to work and deliver on the agreed upon work targets. Do not allow yourself to be bogged down by the politics and the negative people around you. Rest assured there will be plenty of naysayer and trouble makers trying to pull you down. It’s, therefore, important that you stay moored to your goals and objectives, and cut out the noise. Enthusiasm is rare these days, so keep the cheerfulness going.
Stay True to Yourself
Even as you are doing all of the above, make sure that your actions are above board. Resist the temptation to take shortcuts or measures that could put you or your team in an ethical bind. When everything else fails, it is your own sense of values that will stand you in good stead.

Hang in there - Face the Boss!
When a fresher joins MNC, he is usually made to report to a senior who is designated as his mentor. But what happens when a mentor turns into an authoritarian custodian? Many new recruits embrace the work life as their window to many opportunities and healthy competition. However, in some cases, fresher has to report to a boss who doesn’t want him to grow beyond a certain point. This starts affecting the freshers output. In an extreme case he may quit his cushy job!
Here is what you need to do to handle the situation carefully…
LOOK WITHIN
In many cases, ‘I have a bad boss’ is just a perception problem! There are chances that his criticism may be genuine and valid. Be objective and give yourself time before jumping to conclusions. Check passively if it’s just you who is having a problem or there are others in the offices who feel the same.
FOCUS ON WORK
Make your work and not him the focus of all your energies. It will help you deal with him much more objectively. Your super bosses don’t know you much and they will judge you mainly by your work. So do not let your work suffer. In some cases, your boss may have a direct stake in getting the work done faster. This may be the best way to build a smoother relationship.
COMMUNICATE
Meeting over coffee or lunch outside the office may be even better, If you are sure your boss is purposely giving you a tough time. Ask for a frank feedback about your work and your shortcomings. Express the challenges / problems that you are facing at work without getting personal.
DISAGREE, BUT DON’T CONTRADICT
At times, your boss may be wrong and you right. But there are ways to handle it tactfully. Avoid contradicting him, especially in meetings. Express your disagreement, but professionally, without sounding personal. Constant contradiction will only worsen the situation.
TALK TO YOUR SUPER BOSSES
This is one of the last options. Seek advice from any of your boss’ peers to understand the best way to deal with the issue. They would know and understand office politics much better than you at your level.
QUIT BUT ONLY IF YOU MUST
Running away from a problem is never a solution. Faced with such a situation one would want to quit and go. And if the situation is out of your control and if there isn’t much hope from your immediate or super bosses you can consider quitting. Also, if pushing yourself out of home every morning seems like a punishment — perhaps moving out may be the best option.

Nike Shoes will be Compatible With iPod
Shoe manufacturer, Nike has confirmed plans to make all its shoes compatible with Apple's MP3 player, iPod, before the end of 2007.

The Nike+iPod technology, which uses the iPod to record calories burnt and distance covered, via a sensor in the Nike shoes, has been widely criticized in the recent past. Researchers at the University of Washington have claimed that the product can double up as a tracking device, posing a serious security threat to the owner.
The sensor in the shoe emits a signal detectable by any compatible receiver within a range of up to 60 feet, even after the workout has ended. This means, the user can be monitored and tracked easily, by a variety of simple computers. According to the researchers, the device is potentially dangerous, as it lets thieves or stalkers track their victims and plan their attack. A thief could even track when people enter or leave their homes or a stalker could hide receivers near a home, a gym and a restaurant, for example, to closely monitor his or her target's movements.

Moreover, a computer with wireless Internet access can record multiple users' whereabouts, send the information to a central server and plot people's locations using Google Maps. The computer can then be programmed to communicate with the person doing the tracking, with an e-mail or text message.
The security breach was brought to light after Scott Saponas, a doctoral student in computer science at University of Washington, posted his report online.
The new Nike+iPod Sports kit is being scrutinized by researchers at the University of Washington, who claim that the product can double up as a tracking device, posing a serious security threat to the owner. The device is meant for high-tech runners to upload data such as distance, speed and calories burned via a sensor in the Nike shoe and the iPod that compliments it.

Yahoo! will offer UNLIMITED E-mail Storage
Yahoo has celebrated its mail service's tenth birthday by giving its users unlimited mail storage, responding to explosive growth in attachment sizes as people share ever more photos, music and videos via e-mail.
From May, Yahoo will eliminate the one-gigabyte cap on memory for people with free e-mail accounts and two-gigabyte cap of memory for those who pay for premium accounts.
Yahoo Mail is one of the most popular web-based e-mail service and had more than 250 million users.
Originally Yahoo only offered account holders four MB per account. Yahoo said its "e-mail server farms" could handle the storage load and the company will invest in improved capacity where necessary.
Microsoft has a 2 gigabyte free e-mail storage limit, while Google caps its Gmail service at 2.8 gigabytes.
"We are giving them no reason to ever have to delete old e-mails," Yahoo co-founder David Filo said in a phone interview. "You can keep stuff forever."
Officials said the decision to remove e-mail storage limits reflects the plunging cost of storage as new personal computers store up to a trillion bytes of data and owners of 80-gigabyte iPods can carry 100 hours of video in their pockets.
Starting in May, the changeover to unlimited storage should take a month, said John Kremer, vice president of Yahoo Mail.
One caveat Yahoo makes is that the offer is for personal use and subject to guidelines against abuse that apply to Yahoo Mail. No one can build a business giving away unlimited storage to other consumers using Yahoo Mail, executives said.
Two countries -- China and Japan -- are excluded.
Filo said Yahoo is looking at lifting caps on storage for other services such as its Flickr photo-sharing service. "We are looking at those on a case-by-case basis," he said.

Westinghouse Quad HDTV

1080p is really what you should be looking for in a new high-definition HDTV, but the next generation is just around the corner: Westinghouse showcases a 2160p - commonly referred to as a Quad HDTV. If you think this TV is expensive, you are absolutely right.
The 52"" TV runs a super high-resolution of 2160p (3840 x 2160 pixels). In absolute numbers, the device is running a stunning 8.3 megapixels - four times more than 1080p TVs (1920x1080p) and more than twice the resolution of Dell's, HP's and Apple's 30"" desktop LCDs. So, what do you get from this resolution, especially if HD DVD and Blu-ray are running only 1080p anyway?
According to Westinghouse, the TV does not really target the consumer market, but high-end industrial applications. What we saw was an animation of an oil company viewing a digital version of a mining site. And even at this very specialized application, the difference to the best 1080p we saw appeared to be marginal, at least to our eyes. However, of course you do see a much clearer picture when compared to some lower-priced 1080p TVs. However, the TV will not come to the consumer market anytime soon. The TV is selling for around $50,000 at this time.
Westinghouse will have one of the first Quad LCD HDTVs on display, boasting resolution of 3840x2160 progressive (2160p). Early adopters will be able to buy such TVs by mid of 2007.
What a kid!!!
Years ago, footage emerged from a remote village in India. The video shows a young girl receiving surgery to separate her fingers, which were badly burned and fused together. Why did this operation make headlines around the world? The surgery was performed by a 7-year-old boy named Akrit Jaswal.

Now 13 years old, Akrit has an IQ of 146 and is considered the smartest person his age in India—a country of more than a billion people. Before Akrit could even speak, his parents say they knew he was special.
"He learned very fast," says Raksha, Akrit's mother. "After learning the alphabet, we started to teach him joining of words, and he started writing as well. He was two."
At an age when most children are learning their ABCs, Akrit was reading Shakespeare and assembling a library of medical textbooks. When he was 5 years old, he enrolled in school. One year later, Akrit was teaching English and math classes.

Akrit developed a passion for science and anatomy at an early age. Doctors at local hospitals took notice and started allowing him to observe surgeries when he was 6 years old. Inspired by what he saw, Akrit read everything he could on the topic. When an impoverished family heard about his amazing abilities, they asked if he would operate on their daughter for free. Her surgery was a success. Akrit, 13, is searching for a cure for cancer.
After the surgery, Akrit was hailed as a medical genius in India. Neighbors and strangers flocked to him for advice and treatment. At age 11, Akrit was admitted to Punjab University. He's the youngest student ever to attend an Indian university. That same year, he was also invited to London's famed Imperial College to exchange ideas with scientists on the cutting edge of medical research.
Akrit says he has millions of medical ideas, but he's currently focused on developing a cure for cancer. "I've developed a concept called oral gene therapy on the basis of my research and my theories," he says. "I'm quite dedicated towards working on this mechanism."

Growing up, Akrit says he used to see cancer patients lying on the side of the road because they couldn't afford treatment or hospitals had no space for them. Now, he wants to use his intellect to ease their suffering. "I've been going to hospitals since the age of 6, so I have seen firsthand people suffering from pain," he says. "I get very sad, and so that's the main motive of my passion about medicine, my passion about cancer."
Currently, Akrit is working toward a bachelor's degrees in zoology, botany and chemistry. Someday, he hopes to continue his studies at Harvard University.

Car that runs on air-2

The car
1. The end product is a light weigh vehicle that can reach speeds up to 220 kmph.
2. MDI's vehicle's have fibreglass bodies which makes them light, silent urban car. The car's body is tubular, light weight, and is held together using aerospace technology.
3. The vehicles do not have normal speed gauges. Instead, they will have a small computer screen that shows the speed and engine revolutions. The system allows for infinite possibilities such as GSM telephone systems, GPS satellite tracking systems, programs for delivery people, emergency systems, internet connections, voice recognitions, map presentation, traffic information, etc.
4. The seatbelt system is different from what we know. One part of the belt is anchored to the floor of the car, like traditional cars. The other part of the belt, in stead of being attached to the side of the car, is also anchored to the floor of the vehicle.
5. The vehicle's electric system is also revolutionary. MDI has bought a patent that is bound to reduce the importanceof electrical systems in all cars. The trick consists in using a small radio signal. The system makes the car 20 kilos lighter and considerably quieter.
6. There are no keys - just an access card that can be read by the car from your pocket.
7. In the single energy mode MDI cars consume around Rs 45 every 100 km.

8. When there is no combustion, there is no pollution.
9. The vehicle's range is close to twice that of the most advanced electric cars (from 200 to 300 km or 8 hours of circulation).
10. The recharging of the car will be done at gas stations, once the market is developed. To fill the tanks it will take about to 2 to 3 minutes at a price of Rs 90. After refilling the car will be ready to drive for 200 kms.
11. The car also has a small compressor that can be connected to an electrical network (220V or 380V) and will recharged the tanks completely in 3 or 4 hours.
12. Because the engine does not burn any fuel, oil has to be changed only after every 50,000 km.
13. The temperature of the clean air expulsed form the exhaust pipe is between 0 and 15 degrees below zero and can be subsequently channelled and used for air conditioning in the interior of the car.

Car that runs on air-1

Tata Motors has signed an agreement with Moteur Development International (MDI) of France to develop a car that runs on compressed air, thus making it very economical to run and be almost totally pollution free. Although there is no official word on when the car will be commercially manufactured for India, reports say that it will be sooner than later.

The car, MiniCAT, could cost around Rs 350,000 in India and would have a range of around 300 km between refuels. The cost of a refill would be about Rs 90.
The technology that MDI vehicles use is not really new. Compressed air technology allows for engines that are both non-polluting and economical. After ten years of research and development, MDI is prepared to introduce its clean vehicles onto the market. Unlike electric or hydrogen powered vehicles, MDI vehicles are not expensive and do not have a limited driving range. MDI cars are affordable and have a performance rate that stands up to current standards. They are non-expensive cars that do not pollute and are easy to get around in.

Two technologies have been developed to meet different needs:
* Single energy compressed air engines.
* Dual energy compressed air plus fuel engines.
The single energy engines will be available in both MiniCATs and CityCATs. These engines have been conceived for city use, where the maximum speed is 50 km/h and where MDI believes polluting will soon be prohibited.

The single energy engines will be available in both MiniCATs and CityCATs. These engines have been conceived for city use, where the maximum speed is 50 km/h and where MDI believes polluting will soon be prohibited.

The dual energy engine, on the other hand, has been conceived as much for the city as the open road and will be available in all MDI vehicles. The engines will work exclusively with compressed air while it is running under 50 km/h in urban areas. But when the car is used outside urban areas at speeds over 50 km/h, the engines will switch to fuel mode. The engine will be able to use gasoline, gas oil, bio diesel, gas, liquidized gas, ecological fuel, alcohol, etc.
Both engines will be available with 2, 4 and 6 cylinders, When the air tanks are empty the driver will be able to switch to fuel mode, thanks to the car's on board computer.

Working of the car
MDI explains that 90m3 of compressed air is stored in fibre tanks. The engine is powered by compressed air, stored in a carbon-fiber tank at 30 MPa (4500 psi). The tank is made of carbon-fiber in order to reduce its weight. The engine has injection similar to normal engines, but uses special crankshafts and pistons, which remain at top dead center for about 70 degrees of the crankshaft's cycle; this allows more power to be developed in the engine.
The expansion of this air pushes the pistons and creates movement. The atmospheric temperature is used to re-heat the engine and increase the road coverage. The air conditioning system makes use of the expelled cold air. Due to the absence of combustion and the fact there is no pollution, the oil change is only necessary every 50,000 km.

World's largest TV - Technovision's 205 inch HDTV

While we are drooling over Sharp's 108 inch HDTV, Technovision twists our heads in their direction with their colossal 205 inch Luxio LCD HDTV.
Technovision is an Italian company that specializes in outdoor displays, which is probably why no one really heard about them till now. The enormous HDTV, however is made for internal display.
We doubt this TV or brand will be entering our shores anytime soon. Besides, looking at the size of apartments in India, you would probably have to move out a family member to fit this monster in.

It also comes in gold. Here's an unboxing ceremony for the "Blackwood Gold" edition.
8. Nokia 8800 Bling Editions

$1,800
There are a few wretches in the 8800 family of conspicuous consumption. The 8800s in gold were just the beginning: There are now special editions modeled after fast cars like the Aston Martin. They originally cost about $1,800, but go on eBay for about a third of that.

9. Mobiado Professional EM

$1,900
The Mobiado Professional EM is available in Cocobolo and Honduras rosewoods. It is lined with filtered glass-bead blasted aluminum (for that "textured feel"). How can anyone resist the old-school radio buttons and burnished wood panels?

10. MyBlingRing

MyBlingRing is merely the best-named of many companies that offer to make any phone look like a hundred dollars with their VIP crystal-gluing services, as used by celebrities including Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and other arbiters of fine taste and personal discretion. Observe these works where Swarovski crystals are affixed to every plane like dried chunks of colored mucus.
Most Expensive Cell Phones in the world-1
1. Nokia Vertu Cobra

$310,000
2. Black Diamond

$300,000
3. GoldVish

$1.3 million
4. Motorola V220 Special Edition

$57,000

$1,200

$310,000
Nokia's luxury phone subsidiary, Vertu, crafts its cellphones at a custom workshop hidden away in the English countryside. Models named after famous racetracks -- plans of which are engraved on each of the limited-edition handsets. While some models are a mere $4,000 or so, the Signature models -- studded with real carbon -- can cost up to $310,000. The Cobra is "inspired by 19th century Parisian jeweler Frederic Boucheron." Only eight exist worldwide.
2. Black Diamond

$300,000
Jaren Goh's design will come in a more reasonably priced "White Pearl" model, but it's the dreaming spire of his Black Diamond, at $300,000, that's of interest here. Originally conceived for Sony Ericcson, only five of these are being made.
3. GoldVish

$1.3 million
Designer Emmanuel Gueit's creation is unusually functional as far as super-expensive phones go. Such devices tend to exist solely to look pretty at parties. For a staggering $1.3 million, however, there'd be no excuse to offer anything less. But with a VVS-1 grade diamond to match every bit per second in its Bluetooth data rate, it's hardly an office mainstay.
4. Motorola V220 Special Edition

$57,000
Austrian designer Peter Aloisson is responsible for a family of 18-carat horrors, studded with thousands of diamonds and an invisible patina of irremediable bad taste.
5. Bang & Olufsen Serene

$1,200
A relatively cheap model at only $1,000 or thereabouts, Bang and Olufsen's Serene cell phone nonetheless boasts a none-too-relaxing pricetag. Furthermore, it looks like a cheap, generic powder compact.
Top 10 Interview Mistakes
1. Running Late Without Notice.
Turning up late for the interview and never calling to say you are running late will not give a good impression to your potential employer. If you are running late, do inform your interviewer and apologise that you are running late and ask if it is possible for you to attend the interview a little bit late or just request for the interview to be rescheduled if that is not possible.
Of course, the worst that could happen which could quash your employment chances is your attitude when you do not even bother to turn up at an interview without calling.
2. Lack of Preparation
Preparation for an interview includes:
1. Research on the background of the company
2. Bring along an extra copy of your resumé and relevant supporting documents, just in case
3. Be prepared with the answers for possible common interview questions
4. Rehearse on your speech, clarity, confidence, etc. prior to the interview
In the event that you are required to attend an interview at short notice and you applied for a job with no company description stated in the ad, keep your cool and ask questions during the interview to know more about the company.
It is recommended that you carry an extra copy of your resumé in your working bag just in case you are called for a job interview during your lunch/tea break at short notice.
3. Lack of Confidence/Over Confidence
Lack of confidence could be perceived by potential employers as your lack of preparation; being nervous could also be giving the impression that you are trying to cover something or is lying. Being over confident may turn interviewers off as you may be viewed as being too big-headed or you may be viewed as a braggart who talks more than you deliver.
4. Talking Too Much
It is not wise to talk too much and fail to listen and understand the questions asked. Listen carefully to answer the questions asked, be clear and concise in your answers to show that you understood the question and are not just rambling for the sake of talking. Be specific and respond directly to the questions asked. Be careful with your selection of words and think before you say anything to decide if what you are going to say is necessary or appropriate.
5. Inappropriate Dressing
Avoid revealing clothes or being underdressed - stick to conventional dressing, i.e. mono colours and minimal accessories.
6. Body Language
Avoid weak or too strong handshakes, minimal or almost no eye contact with the interviewer and slouching when seated. Keep a straight back when seated and refrain from fidgeting or shaking your legs, twitching your nose, biting your nails or other signs that showed your nervousness. Take a deep breath to remain calm and be aware of your body language. Your body language tells your interviewers more about you than your speech.
7. Criticising Your Previous Employers/Company/Colleagues or Complaining About Your Day
No one likes a person who complains, keep in mind that it is not a recommended icebreaker. You are being interviewed to promote yourself as the best possible candidate for the post, not to criticise others or complain about the train/car that broke down on your way to the interview.
8. Lying or Concealing Information
Never attempt to lie or cover up any vital information, no matter how important you thought it was for you to conceal the information. You may land the job but how long it will be before you are found out?
9. Failing to Ask Questions
Ask questions to show that you are interested in the job, lack of enthusiasm is a killer of your chances of employment.
10. Money Talk
Never bring up talk on salary at the beginning of the interview. Only talk about salary or your employment package, i.e. remuneration, benefits, etc. when the interviewer asks you or the matter has not been brought up and the interview is near its end.
Of course, the worst that could happen which could quash your employment chances is your attitude when you do not even bother to turn up at an interview without calling.

Now watch movies on your head!!

Headplay has created the Personal Cinema System (PCS), a portable movie viewer/PC monitor. Its principal component is a sun visor that sports a TV monitor under the brim for close, personal viewing. The device will sell for $499.

This brick is known as the "Liberator," and Headplay calls it "the brain and nerve center" of the Headplay unit. It connects the visor to a PC or a TV, and it also has a memory slot.

This is the visor itself. By staring directly into two independently focused eyepieces, the mind "sees" a largish, rectangular movie screen, or virtual monitor, on top of a black background.
GOOGLE developing its own mobile phone??
Google is developing its own mobile phone, according to industry insiders, while a Google official last week acknowledged the company was "investigating" such a project.
Google has refused to comment directly on leaks from Europe and the United States which describe a low-cost, internet-connected phone with a colour, wide-screen design.
Google’s rumored Phone could herald yet another mobile phone revolution. Is there anything Google can’t do? It seems nothing is impossible, and impossible is nothing for the world’s dominant search engine company, who now want to expand into the world of mobile computing, Internet access and telephony with their own branded phone.
Newspaper and blog reports in recent months have Google shopping its phone design to potential mobile phone manufacturing partners in Asia. Richard Windsor, a phone analyst with brokerage Nomura in London, told clients late last week that unspecified Google representatives at a major European conference in Germany had confirmed the company is working on its own phone device.
"Mobile is an important area for Google," Google spokeswoman Erin Fors said on Friday. "We remain focused on creating applications and establishing and growing partnerships with industry leaders to develop innovative services for users worldwide. However, we have nothing further to announce."
Said to look similar to the iPhone, with a big widescreen and few buttons, Google wants to bring their software, search, advertising, IM, VoIP and Web 2.0-style apps to a stylish handheld device that plugs you right into everything Google, bringing Google to those even without a computer.
Google’s phone is supposed to be running a version of Linux, uses a touch screen, has Google Talk built-in for instant messaging and VoIP calls, and would have to come with a powerful web browser and mobile versions of Google Apps and other Google software, such as Google Maps, Gmail, Google Calendar and more.
Built-in Wi-Fi would seem to be a given, although whether or not the phone will be 2.5G (GPRS), 2.75G (EDGE), 3G (UMTS) or 3.5G (HSDPA) is unclear. Bluetooth would be another obvious addition, as would some kind of camera, or even two cameras if video calling will be available. Mp3 and video playback capabilities would also seem to be natural features for Google to include.
Eric Schmidt, CEO Google, said in November 2006 that in the future, cell phones could well be free as they would be supported by advertising – although whether this means having to listen to an ad before, during or after placing calls, or all three, is unknown. Confusingly, he then said that phones may never be free after all, and that Google had no plans to give away phones themselves.
Over the past year, Google has branched out beyond computers to bring Web search, e-mail, mapping and other Web services to millions of new and existing phone browsers worldwide.
In October 2006, research company IDG reported that nearly one sixth of the world’s population, or nearly 1 billion people, use mobile phones, with users always keen to upgrade to the latest models offering music and video playback, along with seamless access to email.
One thing is for sure: if Google wants to release their own phone, they have the power to do so, the ability to create the right software environment and the technological know-how required to make the Google Phone a reality.
The choice may well be tough in the future. G-Phone? iPhone? Nokia ‘multimedia computer’ phone? Walkman phone? Windows Mobile 6 phone? Some other phone?

DD, Nokia to start mobile TV pilot in metros
Public broadcaster Prasar Bharti and world's largest mobile phone maker Nokia are all set to start a mobile TV pilot project in metro cities, which will enable cellular phone users watch Doordarshan channels on their handsets.
Nokia India has entered into a pilot tender with DD to launch the service, which would make DD channels available on select high-end Nokia handset models.
During the pilot phase, Doordarshan will test the reception quality of the broadcast coverage. Attendant things like a revenue structure or advertising opportunities will come later. It will also help Nokia and Doordarshan gauge the acceptability.
DD is doing the deliberations and the pilot for the mobile TV will start soon in the metros. Extensive planned commercial launch will take some time, Vineet Taneja, multimedia business director of Nokia India said.
Nokia's N92 series of handsets are capable of catching television signals". Nokia officials said it is for Doordarshan, which has put up a mobile television platform to set a time frame about commercial launch of their TV on Mobile. The company has N92- the first DVBH (digital video broadcast handheld) device. The set will soon be available in India.
Analysts said it remains to be seen how revenue models are worked out, he says.
Adoption of mobile TV will ultimately give way to a more personal and private TV experience than that of traditional broadcast TV, with big implications for users, content providers and advertisers.

Samsung F700

Price: Not disclosed
Samsung already has a pretty good answer to the impending release of Apple's iPhone, with its F700. The phone's 2.78-in. widescreen display renders video at quality comparable to a video iPod, according to reports, and packs other solid features like a 5-megapixel camera and an integrated MP3 player. It may not be the iPhone-killer, but it can certainly hold its ground.
Hewlett Packard iPaq 500 Voice Messenger

Price: Not disclosed
Hewlett Packard has been present on the PDA market for a few years, but the iPaq 500 Voice Messenger marks the company's entry into the world of smart phones. It is billed as a businessperson's dream, integrating Wi-Fi capabilities, VoIP calling, and other PDA features into the Windows Mobile 6 interface. Nifty touches, like the ability to dictate e-mails or have them read to you, make the iPaq a uniquely handy out-of-the-office tool.
Nokia 6110 Navigator

Price: €450
Some high-end car GPS devices, like the TomTom Go series, already pair navigation with Bluetooth telephony, but Nokia is taking the inverse route by building GPS capabilities directly into a full-featured mobile phone. The resulting Navigator phone makes it hard for a user to stay lost for long. This device can read out directions, find points of interest from the Internet, and download new maps on a pay-per basis.
Samsung U600

Price: Not disclosed
If Samsung's Ultra Edition super-thin phones bear a striking resemblance to Motorola's RAZR, it's no coincidence. All the major handset makers have been scrambling to release rivals to Motorola's hugely popular line of super-thin phones. At just 10.9 mm thick, Samsung's is not quite the world's slimmest device, but it may be thin enough to squeeze in behind the RAZR and help Samsung snag clients away from its U.S. rival.

The Z8, built on Symbian operating software, also puts an emphasis on multimedia, with a 2-megapixel camera, an MP3 player, and a 4 GB-capacity microSD slot so you can watch whole movies on the go.

How LCD TV's are made in a plant-3

LCD panel making today is fully automated, though factory workers and engineers monitor the process and do quality checks via computer screens that track the step-by-step construction of the display panels.

Printed circuit boards, integrated circuit drivers, backlight, prism, and other light-defusing films are added to the LCD panels to make fully completed modules that are then sent to TV makers.

Color quality checks for newly manufactured LCD TV modules are conducted manually by workers instead of robots since they can't detect color defects as well as humans can.

Though LCD manufacturing is highly automated, the industrial robots need constant maintenance and surveillance as they conduct precision routines and cart around huge paper-thin sheets of glass.
How LCD TV's are made in a plant-2

The making of a LCD display panel involves two glass sheets that sandwich a liquid-crystal material. A complex circuitry pattern is printed in one substrate, or glass sheet. An ultra high-definition TV for instance, requires 2 million pixels. To achieve that, several layers of electrodes are etched into glass to control the electric voltage and image data that course through the liquid crystals. This circuitry shapes the varying degrees of brightness and color that create the sharp and distinct images characteristic of LCD sets.

The other glass sheet serves as a color filter. Each of the 2 million pixels used in a Full HD TV are coated with red, green, and blue chemicals (basic primary colors) to generate different hues. These pixels are lit up by an electronic current passing through them and, in combination with the liquid crystals, change in polarization and color to shape the final image.

Liquid crystals are injected between two sheets of glass—one etched with complex circuitry and the other embedded with pixels coated with color chemicals. They are sealed together tightly to create a vacuum for better image quality. Polarizer filters are placed on either side of the glass sheets to further define the image.
How LCD TV's are made in a plant-1

Thousands of thin-film-transistor (TFT) liquid-crystal displays roll out of more than a dozen factories in South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and China every day. LCD panel prices are falling at a rate of up to 10% every quarter. So there has been a wholesale shift in rich world markets from traditional cathode-ray TVs to digital sets lightweight enough to hang on the wall. TFT-LCD is also the only technology today catering to displays of all sizes, ranging from 1-in. panels for mobile handsets to massive 108-in. TV screens. Liquid crystals stimulated by electrical charges can change the property of light—that is, the color—passing through them.

LCD panel manufacturing resembles that of semiconductors. Both require clean rooms for precision fabrication procedures. While tiny lines of electronic circuits are printed on silicon wafers for chips, LCD panels require printing of circuits on thin glass plates. Here, a worker walks past an air tunnel designed to create a dust-free environment.

The latest LCD plants produce bigger sheets of glass, which allow engineers to carve out more and bigger display panels for TVs and computer monitors. A state-of-the-art plant, known as a G-8 fab, can produce sheets of paper-thin, specialized glass 2.5m by 2.2m in size. They in turn can be cut into six 52-in. giant panels each.

Beware!! Desi ghee may have animal fat!!!
As reported by Times.
Illegal Units In Lucknow Turning Tallow Into Clarified Butter, Selling Them Under Brand Names
He works as a dailywage earner in the city’s animal disposal dump, sorting carcasses into hides and bones that are sold later. But this sixty-something man takes great pride in his other art—one that turns animal fat into ‘desi ghee’.
The lean and gruff Fazal (name changed) is known in these parts as the best karigar and claims to have a long and worthy army of “shagirds who are doing quite well for themselves’’. The old man who works near Dubagga vegetable mandi in Chhanduia, 15 km off the city limits, just loves to make ghee—one that comes at a premium at that.
“The kind that looks, tastes and smells exactly like desi ghee. He (Fazal) gives it cream colour and even manages to rustle up little daanaas (granules) to complete the look,’’ boasts Hari Om, a colleague-cum-admirer, who goes on to say that even experts would be unable to distinguish it from the real thing or even believe that Fazal extracts his pound of ghee from a dead animal. The centre for all this activity is a dump hidden from public eyes and run for years by Rameshwar, who had an annual contract with the Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
Carcasses of stray cows, buffaloes, calves, horses and donkeys among other species—numbering 20 to 30 daily—are brought here on hand carts, rickshaws and four-wheelers. Workers turn them into neat piles of bones, hide, horns and hooves to be sold later. But charbi, the subcutaneous layer of fat between the skin and muscles and even different body parts like abdominal cavity, is in greater demand, say all the workers here.
A visit to the dump on Friday afternoon presented a gory site. Workers smelling strongly of hooch, looked busy unmindful of the stench and filth. During the 45-minute stay, the TOI team counted at least three hand carts ferrying back charbi. The pullers were suspicious of the strangers on the spot.
But Fazal did not mind sharing the trade secrets, under conditions of anonymity, with potential clients who he believed run a local bakery chain. “Any one can set up a ghee-making unit. All you need is a chulha and the big karahi that is used by halwais and a special ladle fitted with a sieve. The stuff is poured in and melted on a high flame. The fat comes off without much effort,’’ he explained.
There are at least 150 families engaged in this business in Lucknow. Earlier, these units were found in peripheral towns, specially Barabanki. TOI had carried a report with photographs of a godown of such ‘desi ghee’ made from tallow about six years back. Now these ghee units are said to be scattered all over the city in Aishbagh, Madhepur, Haiderganj crossing, Haddikheda in Rajajipuram, Kakori, Kasaibara areas. “The price ranges between Rs 18 and Rs 25 per kg with the A-grade stuff made by Fazal costing extra,’’ said Hari Om (name changed).
He said that for bulk purchase the right person is Kallu of Haddikheda—his USP using popular brand names on the tins—or Rahim and Liyakat bhai. “The latter has his factory near Haiderganj crossing,’’ confides an understudy of Fazal. “But if the demand is only two-three tins, then we can get you the stuff immediately.’’ TOI learnt that some ghee made with tallow is also being marketed using popular brand labels. “Sample it and then you will never go elsewhere,’’ said the one who handles sales. “Safe and best for cooking anything you fancy. Just take care not to store it for long.’’ His client list includes “buyers not only from some city eateries but also from Kanpur and even Delhi’’.
Just as Fazal begins to open up, a cart puller warns him into clamming up. And the responses turn guarded. Asked how he can be contacted, Hari Om chips in, “You give us your mobile number. We will call you up. You will get timely delivery. Ab aap uska sabun aur mombatti banao ya kabab aur samosa, aap jano, hamari zimmedari nahi hai.’’
Veterinary expert Dr N D Sharma said: “The tallow ghee poses no health hazard. Once boiled all germs in the fat are eliminated.’’ (All names of those involved with tallow ghee business have been changed)

Rediff offers unlimited email storage free
Email users the world over have never had it so good. The days of limited and paid email storage appears to be finally coming to an end. While Yahoo, Google, AOL and others have been offering their members paid unlimited email storage, Rediff.com today announced it will offer its users free unlimited storage space on Rediffmail with immediate effect.
This means that existing and new Rediffmail users need not worry about deleting messages and can download video or music files to their heart’s content. Of course, US-based mail2world.com and Korean email services provider DreamWiz are among the few that already offer free unlimited email.
Ajit Balakrishnan, chairman and founder, Rediff.com said: "With the phenomenal growth of broadband penetration, usage for storage and sharing of multimedia files has increased. We have solved the problem of storage and capacity and hope that bandwidth availability will also follow."
However, there’s a cost attached to the plan. This means Rediff.com will need to have a storage and back-up infrastructure that will be capable of handling the increasing data. "We have been working on this for the last two years and have created a sturdy infrastructure. Invested enough in servers and storage systems," adds Balakrishnan.
To provide continuous back-up to users, Rediff.com portal has tied-up with service providers like VSNL, Reliance, Sify, and Bharti. Each of these rooms, which is being rented out by Rediff.com, will have high-tech server racks and the requisite security systems.
While the management is not ready to discuss figures, a back of the envelope calculation reveals that it will require terabytes of storage capacity (costing crores of rupees) to make this happen. And they have competition on hand. Google is already said to be testing a new storage service codename Gdrive or Platypus. Others are sure to follow suit soon.

(To enlarge the image, click on it)

Sony has introduced its first wireless Cyber-shot, the DSC-G1, a 6 megapixel digital camera that also works with other DLNA-enabled devices, like other cameras or your PC.
It has 3.5-inch high-res LCD screen for high detail when viewing photos and for a superb slideshow feature to share photos with others.
The new camera’s slide show with music function makes sharing photos directly on the camera even more enjoyable. Sony popularized the use of large LCD screens on compact cameras, with the understanding that simply passing the camera around is a means of sharing.
You can share your photos with friends that have a Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) enabled camera – just by selecting the photo or photos in question, and pressing a button. Four people with compatible cameras can send photos to each other in real time. DLNA compatible PCs can also store and share photos from the DSC-G1 wirelessly. The camera is also the first to come with 2Gb of internal memory.
You can also add as much as you want using MS Duo or MS Pro Duo memory sticks, which are available in sizes of up to 8Gb, the DSC-G1 becomes a true pocket digital photo album as well as powerful digital camera, able to store 7500 VGA images or 600 6-megapixel photos.
Integral in a camera that can easily store several photo albums worth of photos is in innovative new on-camera search feature. You can organize your photos by events, such as vacations or birthdays, and retrieve them later by keywords or labels. It’s also possible to select an image and search for other photos with the same face, same color, or a similar composition.
The camera has a distinctive design and elegant metal body, a Carl Zeiss 3x optical zoom lens, Super Steady Shot optical image stabilization to minimize camera blur and shake, a light sensitivity of up to up to ISO 1000 for better images at higher shutter speeds and in low light.
It has an integrated lens cover which slides across the camera’s face, instead of down as with previous models, with the camera ready to shoot in less than a second.
Expected retail price is US $600, with a complete range of accessories from www.sonystyle.com, with the camera arriving in stores in April.

(Video) Munnabhai Chale Amerika - First Look
The third installment from the Munnabhai and Circuit series, in this episode both Munna and Circuit are preparing to go to America. Both are reading a book ‘How to learn English in 30 days’. With their dreams to go America, learning English obviously becomes an important requisite for them. So both the characters are struggling to learn the Queen’s language thus creating a lot of confusion with their ‘desi’ dialect.
Just for instance check a few of their Hindi lines translated into English
How will they give their address?
In Hindi: Dhobhi ghat
In English: Wash-ington
How will they express their happiness?
In Hindi: Khushi ke maare mera seena phul gaya
In English: Out of happiness my chest turned into breast
Tapori slang
In Hindi: hawa aan de
In English: Let the air force come in
Bambaiya language
In Hindi: khopche main leke deo kya kharcha paani
In English: I will take you out for date and pay for it
There are a few more of their hilarious one-liners that just make you wonder what will actually happen when they reach America. The trailer however is only restricted till their homework in India and doesn’t delve into foreign shores. In terms of its format it very much reminds of the first teaser of Lagey Raho Munnabhai that showed Munna and Circuit talking about Mahatma Gandhi.
‘God Save America’ – they are coming soon.

Grooming tips for men
Trousers
For work, khakis and chinos (tan-coloured pants inspired by military looks) are all the rage today, and available in a variety of colours like beige, brown, tan, navy blue and black.
When choosing a pair of trousers, make sure they fit right, especially around the hips. Chinos come in pleated and flat front styles. Pleated trousers are usually straight cut, which look good on a short, lean person.
Flat front trousers on the other hand are your everyday trousers. You can wear them to work or to your neighbourhood grocery. They look stylish almost anywhere!
If you are on the heavier side, flat fronts are a safer bet, as it does not highlight your hip area much and the almost boot-cut fit (style of trousers or jeans that tapers to the knee and flares out to accommodate a boot) makes the legs appear longer.
High-end brands like Blackberry, Van Heusen and Louis Phillipe have trousers in the price range of Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 while Newport, Live-in, Dockers, Lee and Arrow trousers can be had for anywhere between Rs 900 to Rs 1,500.
Shirts
Get your chest and waist fittings right, when looking for a shirt. Fits change according to your body type, make sure the fit does make your body swell out. It must provide a perfect cover to your body shape without any unsightly bumps.
Another thing about shirts that most Indian men neglect is the neckline. Some men look good in high collars while others don't.
There are three basic neck types -- fat, medium and lean. Shirts for medium necks should suit lean and heavy ones but the opposite is not true.
When it comes to design, stripes have become the norm. The stripes you choose for your shirts should be according to your height and your width.
Short men with a stocky build should avoid horizontal stripes while the very tall should avoid wearing shirts with vertical stripes.
And avoid wearing shirts with large and flashy designs, to work.
Jeans
How many of you find it tough to shop for jeans?
They are an indispensable part of your wardrobe, and could prove to be a saviour when in doubt.
Boot-cut, baggy (loose)and slim (form-fitting) styles flood the markets today.
Lean? Then go for a daring slim style, which is all the rage on the international fashion circuit.
On the heavier side? Stick to boot-cut jeans.
One word of advice: Be careful about how your jeans look from the back. It should not be too baggy or tight.
Leave the baggy fits to the hip-hop gang, as you need a certain 'attitude' to carry them off. Low-waist jeans are strictly for those with lean hips and a 28 to 34 inch waistline.
As for colours, soft shades in gray, black and those in-between, look good.
Avoid bling and go easy on the ultra-washed effect.
Accessories
Shoes, watches, belt and eye wear can add that extra something to your overall look.
Try to achieve a 'balanced' look.
For work, match the colour of your shoes with the colour of your belt. Restrict rings and chains to a minimum.
If you are wearing jeans to work, team them up with a shirt that fits well, a cowboy belt buckle (made of iron and plated with silver) and a neat pair of boots for a new look.
"A watch with a black leather strap and a sleek dial gives you a timeless chic, mature look -- something a chunky sports can never give you," says Roy.
You don't have to get your shoes polished every morning. However, at least wipe them with a soft cloth before you leave for work.
And guys, please change your socks everyday, no matter what!
Pick frames and shades according to your face type, not fashion trends.
Larger, thicker frames suit round faces while a small frame does wonders for an oval face.

(Video) Beer Launching Mini-Fridge
An inventor from the US has created a fridge that can throw cold beer cans to those who are too lazy to get off the couch.
John Cornwell, 22, spent GBP 1,500 on making a remote-controlled fridge that will be a dream come true to many men come football championships time. The remote control starts an intrinsic lift mechanism in the fridge and the beer is lifted to the top where a catapult-like device hurls it at the lazy drinker.
Cornwell admits that his great idea came as he was sprawled on the couch one day: ‘I thought, 'What if instead of me going to get the beer, the beer came to me?' "There is a slight danger of being hit in the head with a flying can but this danger decreases the more you use it," the inventor warns.

Cool New Sony NW-A800 Video Walkman MP3 Player Launched

Sony's Video Walkman NW-A800 series Walkman will go on sale in Europe in April and then later in other markets.
There are three models: the NW-A805, A806 and A808 having 2GB, 4GB and 8GB, respectively.
The screen is a 2-inch LCD panel with QVGA resolution (240 pixels by 320 pixels). It's orientated in portrait form rather than the landscape form used on the iPod, but videos can be viewed with the device either held vertically or horizontally.

Audio playback in a number of flavors of Sony's ATRAC compression is possible, and Sony supplies software for converting Windows Media Audio, MP3 and WAV files to ATRAC. MP3 files can be directly loaded onto the Walkman, but battery life will be shorter. For video the Walkman plays back MPEG4 H.264/AVC encoded files.
Playback time for audio is about 30 hours for ATRAC files encoded at 132k bps while for video its seven hours for MPEG4 files encoded at 768k bps.

NW-A800 series is available in four color options; violet, black, white and pink.

(Video) How to convince your boss to buy you a new computer
There are 101 ways to convince your boss to buy you a new computer. Here is one of them.
Dark in here
A housewife calls her lover home during the day, while her husband is at work. Unknown to her, her 9 year old son was hiding in the closet.
Her husband came home unexpectedly, so she hid her lover in the closet. The boy now has company.
Boy: Dark in here..
Man: Yes it is.
Boy: I have a baseball.
Man: That's nice.
Boy: Want to buy it?
Man: No, thanks.
Boy: My dad's outside.
Man: OK, how much?
Boy: $250.
In the next few weeks, it happens again that the boy and the mom's lover are in the closet together.
Boy: Dark in here.
Man: Yes, it is.
Boy: I have a baseball glove.
Man: How much?
Boy: $750.
Man: Fine.
A few days later, the father says to the boy, "Grab your glove. Let's go outside and toss the baseball."
The boy says, "I can't. I sold them."
The father asks, "How much did you sell them for?"
The son says, "$1,000."
The father says, "That's terrible to overcharge your friends like that, that is way more than those two things cost. I'm going to take you to church and make you confess."
They go to church and the father alerts the priest, and makes the little boy sit in the confession booth and closes
the door.
The boy says, "Dark in here." the priest says, "Don't start that shit again."

(Video) The Lost Tomb Of Jesus Christ - 2
Interview with James Cameron

More interviews
Cameron and Jacobovici said statisticians who have looked at markings on the bone boxes estimate that the probability that the remains uncovered in 1980 are not those of Joseph, Mary, Jesus, Mary Magdalene, a son of Jesus and other relatives are more than 100 to 1. The implications are astounding given that billions of people have been taught that Jesus was resurrected both in spirit and body, ascended to heaven, never married and had no offspring. The film and book, if accepted, could shake the church, that Jesus founded, to its core.
According to Cameron and Jacobovici, the bones discovered in the limestone boxes in 1980 were quickly reburied, following the Jewish traditions. Archaeologists quickly discounted the theory that the boxes contained the bones of Jesus and his family because the names inscribed on the boxes were quite common in the region during the 1st Century.
Jacobovici said that the archaeologists who were so quick to dismiss the find never asked statisticians for an opinion about the likelihood that boxes inscribed with names like Joseph, Mary and Jesus would all be found in the same place and be dated back to the time that Jesus lived and taught.
“They are common names, these were archaeologists. They never went to statisticians,” Jacobovici said. “We're just reporting the news. We're not statisticians. We're not theologians .... Now the debate is going to begin because statisticians say it is significant. DNA experts say it is significant.”

Oscar-winning director James Cameron's controversial new documentary, which claims that Jesus may not have only been buried with a wife, but a son as well, adds an intriguing new piece but certainly doesn't solve the 2,000-year-old puzzle of the life and death of Christ.
“I'm not an archaeologist. I'm a filmmaker,” said Cameron, who won the Academy Award for Best Director in 1998 for Titanic. “I looked at the evidence initially, and as a layman I found it to be compelling .... I haven't seen anything that contradicts the initial hypothesis.”
“The Lost Tomb of Jesus,” which premieres March 4 on the Discovery Channel, USA, chronicles recent efforts to apply modern science and new understanding of Jesus and his followers to the 1980 discovery of a set of ossuaries, or “bone boxes,” under what is now an apartment complex near Jerusalem.
The well-known holy relic called The Talpiot Tomb is in fact the crypt that once held the bones of Jesus Christ. Scientific evidence, including DNA analysis conducted at one of the world's foremost molecular genetics laboratories, as well as studies by leading scholars, suggests a 2,000-year-old Jerusalem tomb could have once held the remains of Jesus of Nazareth and his family. The findings also suggest that Jesus and Mary Magdalene might have produced a son named Judah." This could be "the greatest archaeological find in history," since it could satisfy many that there's no God.
Cameron and investigative journalist Simcha Jacobovici, who wrote a companion book, “The Jesus Family Tomb,” are defending their work against criticism that they are riding the coat tails of Dan Brown's “The Da Vinci Code” and are trying to profit from promoting theories discredited by archaeologists when the limestone boxes were discovered 27 years ago.

Sony's Latest Cyber-Shot Digital Cameras
Sony has launched five new Cyber-shot cameras; the Cyber-shot W-series cameras, including DSC-W200, DSC-W90, and DSC-W80 and the new 8-megapixel Cyber-shot H-series which includes DSC-H9 and DSC-H7.
W-series
The DSC-W200 is the most compact 12-megapixel camera in the industry, followed by the 8-megapixel DSC-W90, and the 7.2-megapixel DSC-W80 which have Carl Zeiss 3x optical zoom lenses; traditional, eye-level viewfinders; and large, 2.5-inch LCD screens.

These W-series cameras are compatible with the Sony VMC-MHC1 HD component cable for simple connection to an HDTV set. They can also be used with the new Sony CSS-HD1 HD Cyber-shot Station, which comes with the component cable. The cameras can be connected to the station just one time, which also charges the cameras.
These cameras incorporate Sony's new face detection technology, Clear RAW noise reduction technology, the new multi-point auto-focus (AF), and Super Steady Shot for optical image stabilization.

The new W-series models feature a built-in slide show function for image playback with pans, fades, and wipe transitions set to your choice of music clips. They also incorporate selectable in-camera editing functions, and are equipped with Dynamic Range Optimizer for instantly determining the best exposure and tonality of each picture.

All of the new cameras are powered by the Bionz processing engine that helps speed up the cameras' response time and extends battery life. The W90 camera can shoot up to 350 shots, the W80 model up to 340 shots, and the W200 unit up to 270 shots, respectively, on a full charge.
H-series
The DSC-H9 and DSC-H7 are able to quick focus by predicting where the subjects would be in the frame, which helps to reduce the time of focus and shoot.
Both cameras, debuting advanced sports shooting mode, feature powerful Carl Zeiss 15x optical zoom lenses for up-close shots of big plays on the field. With the face detection technology, they can identify up to eight faces in the camera's LCD frame.

The H9 and H7 can shoot up to 1/4000 of a second, a critical speed for capturing fast-moving sports and freezing the action. The two cameras incorporate similar technologies that are there in the new W-series models such as HD outputs, Bionz processing engine, Super Steady Shot, Clear RAW noise reduction technology, Dynamic Range Optimizer, and offer selectable in-camera editing functions.
The H9 sports a 3-inch, flip-up LCD screen, while the H7 has a non-articulating, 2.5-inch LCD screen. The H9 camera is the only Cyber-shot model in this year's line to feature NightShot technology, which allows users to take photographs in environments with virtually no light.
